Chennai: Data Patterns (India) Limited delivered a landmark performance in FY2026, recording its highest-ever order book and robust financial growth, as the company strengthened its position in India's rapidly expanding indigenous defence ecosystem. The company attributed the performance to growing customer confidence, sustained investments in advanced technologies and increasing opportunities arising from India's push for defence self-reliance.
Data Patterns is a vertically integrated Defence and Aerospace electronics solutions provider catering to the indigenously developed defence products industry. Data Patterns' key strength is founded on over two decade history of developing high reliability products in this domain with the broad capability to develop and manufacture any high reliability product. Data Patterns has developed several electronic systems for it's customers with the support of it's captive manufacturing facility and attention to detail. Data Patterns achieves it's philosophy of manufacturing products with the reliability of life span expected in it's market domain.
In his message to shareholders, S. Rangarajan, Chairman & Managing Director, described FY2026 as a defining year for the company, stating that the record order book reflects not only business growth but also the trust placed in Data Patterns' technological capabilities, execution excellence and long-term commitment to strengthening India's defence preparedness.
The company recorded order inflows of approximately Rs. 1,121 crore during FY2026, representing a 216% year-on-year increase. These orders were diversified across multiple defence and aerospace programmes, highlighting growing acceptance of the company's indigenous technologies.
Indigenous capabilities drive future growth
The CMD noted that evolving geopolitical developments and growing security concerns have accelerated India's focus on indigenous defence manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Referring to Operation Sindoor, he said the successful deployment of the BrahMos missile system, to which Data Patterns contributed, underscored the strategic importance of indigenous defence technologies.
According to the company, its long-standing strategy has been to invest ahead of future opportunities by developing technologies before large-scale defence programmes are launched. This approach has enabled Data Patterns to build indigenous capabilities in areas where domestic alternatives remain limited.
During FY2026, the company further strengthened its expertise across radar systems, electronic warfare, avionics, communication systems and strategic defence electronics. Several research and development programmes have now progressed to advanced stages of validation.
The company said its electronic warfare suites, including self-protection jammer pods for Indian fighter aircraft, have received encouraging feedback and are advancing through the next phases of testing. It is also expanding its portfolio in airborne surveillance radars, maritime applications, drone detection and counter-drone systems, electronic support systems and advanced surveillance solutions.
Management believes these high-value, in-house developed systems will become key growth drivers in the coming years.
Export business gains traction
Data Patterns also reported increasing acceptance of its products in international markets. The successful development, export and acceptance of its Transportable Precision Approach Radar (TPAR) by a European customer marked a significant milestone in the company's global expansion strategy.
The company's export order book stood at approximately Rs. 53 crore, supported by repeat business from the United Kingdom and ongoing customer engagements across Europe and other international markets.
Management expects exports to become an increasingly important pillar of long-term growth as global defence spending rises and countries seek to diversify their defence supply chains.
Strong financial performance
Financially, Data Patterns reported another year of profitable growth. Revenue increased 31% year-on-year to Rs. 925 crore, while EBITDA rose 35% to Rs. 371 crore, reflecting disciplined execution, operational efficiency and continued focus on high-value products.
The company also maintained a debt-free balance sheet with a strong net cash position, providing flexibility to invest in future technologies and infrastructure while preserving financial strength.
Looking ahead, the company remains optimistic about sustained long-term growth, supported by rising defence expenditure, increasing indigenisation, a healthy order pipeline, expanding opportunities in advanced defence electronics and continued investments in research and development.
